Hyaluronic Acid: The Fountain of Youth

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid (also called Hyaluronan, or HA) is a component of connective tissue whose function is to cushion and lubricate. Hyaluronan occurs throughout the body.in abundant amounts in many of the places people with hereditary connective tissue disorders have problems such as joints, heart valves and eyes. Hyaluronic acid abnormalities are a common thread in connective tissue disorders. Interestingly, they are also common biochemical anomalies in most of the individual features of connective tissue disorders such as mitral valve prolapse, TMJ, osteoarthritis, and keratoconus.

The Importance of Hyaluronic Acid (Hyaluronan, HA)
Hyaluronic Acid is present in every tissue of the body. Retention of water is one of the most important biological functions of hyaluronic acid, second only to providing nutrients and removing waste from cells that do not have a direct blood supply, such as cartilage cells. With a lower than adequate amount of hyaluronic acid, nutrients cannot be moved into these cells and waste cannot be eliminated from cells. Hyaluronic acid is sometimes abbreviated as HA. Hyaluronic acid is found in the synovial joint fluid, the vitreous humor of the eye, the cartilage, blood vessels, extracellular matrix, skin and the umbilical cord.

Hyaluronic Acid ; “The Key To The Fountain of Youth”
Hyaluronic acid has been nicknamed by the press as the “key to the fountain of youth” because it has been noted that at least some people who ingest a lot of Hyaluronan in their diets tend to live to ripe old ages. ABC News had a show on a village in Japan and hyaluronic acid entitled, “The Village of Long Life: Could Hyaluronic Acid Be an Anti-Aging Remedy?”

Hyaluronic acid for use by humans has been derived from rooster combs. Rooster combs provide the purest form of hyaluronic acid (Hyalurinan, HA) available.

Benefits
Hyaluronic acid moisturizes skin from the inside out, smoothing out wrinkles in the process
Hyaluronic acid helps people who need to ease the flexing of their joints, especially their knees, by restoring cushioning to their joints
Hyaluronic acid is suitable for men and women in their 30s and 40s who are beginning to see the first signs of aging
Hyaluronic acid is suitable for seniors who have established joint conditions

Growing Old Gracefully

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Today the average duration of human life in the United States is just about 70 years for women and a little less for men. Conservative experts believe that man is really build to last about 100 years; and that medial advances and more healthful living habits could bring this about within a generation or two.

What good is it to add years to life if we do not also add life to years? In fact, unless people learn to enjoy life and to grow old gracefully, the extra years may be an additional burden.

From 18 to 30 years is roughly the period of highest physical and mental vigor. The experiences we accumulate from the day we are born help us to conserve and to use our physical and mental abilities more wisely, so that for some time after 30 years we are able to perform increasingly well in spite of slowly slipping vigor. After age 50 the increasing accumulation of experience is no longer able to offset the now more rapidly energy and therefore aging begins to assert itself noticeably and in many ways.

A number of things may come about gradually such as people who have not used eyeglasses before may at some time in their forties need them for reading, and in the fifties they usually need bifocals.

Also in the forties, people are likely to put on weight because there is a general slowdown in the oxidation rate of the aging body tissue. Also we tend to do less strenuous work with no reduction in the amount of food consumed.

And in the fifties there is likely to be some loss of hearing. Usually the high-pitched tomes go first, so words with the sounds of F, S, and TH are confused. A hearing aid may be needed in some cases.

Aging is generally accompanied by a loss in physical and mental flexibility. This is noticed in a tendency to become stiff in the joints; in slower comeback after a strenuous trip, excessive “night life,” or hard work; in slower healing of wounds, sore muscles, and sprains; in slower recovery of pep after an illness; and in greater difficulty to adjust to new people, new places, and new ideas.

Men, especially, will notice loss of muscular strength. There will be increased unsteadiness and delicate muscle movements will be more clumsy and the stride in waking will become shorter. The conclusion now is that the performance and ability of the elderly has long been underestimated and can be greatly improved by a proper diet, sleep and exercise along with rest and relaxation.

Many elderly people tend to lose their joy and will to live and chronic worriers may mope around and withdraw. Medical authorities now say that laughter is one of the best medicines for the elderly. You can always keep your sense of humor tuned up by surrounding yourself with pleasant and interesting people. Just act your age and don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself even when no else is around.

Now that we all know the role that physical activity plays in our lives, remember to do something physical every day. The joints must be used or quite simply they will tighten with age creating that stooped worn out appearance we so often associate with getting old. Keep yourself flexible and fit on an exercise program consistent with your ability.

What good is it to add years to life if you can’t enjoy it.

Shopping With Coupon Books: Are They Worth The Price?

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

You have probably seen coupon books sold for various large cities and may have wondered if they are worth the price. That of course depends on how much you use them. They usually have several thousands of dollars worth of discounts in the coupons inside, and prices range from around $25 to $45, but if you dont use them, obviously they arent worth very much to you. Sometimes they are sold as fundraisers by different groups and you get the added benefit of helping out a worthy cause. Here are some tips to make sure your book isnt wasted.

First, be realistic about how often you will be in the area. Entertainment publishes editions for 159 localities in the US and Canada. If the one nearest you is a couple of hours away, you may not use it very much and end up wasting your money. On the other hand, if you are planning a vacation to one of the destinations that has an Entertainment coupon book, you will probably be hitting a lot of restaurants, hotels, attractions, rental cars, etc. and these are exactly the type of items that these coupon books have the most savings for. In addition, if you are taking your trip in the summer or fall, wait to order your book until a few weeks before your trip, since prices on the books usually drop as the year progresses because you will have a shorter window of time to use them.

If you are considering buying a book for your local area, look through it before you purchase it and ask yourself the same questions you would if you were looking through your Sunday circulars or packs of coupons you get in the mail for free. Are these places and products you use anyway, or ones you want to try? If so, the book is probably a good value. But if you wouldnt have considered going to the attractions, restaurants, or other coupon items, it isnt really a savings for you to pay for the book and then pay for half of an event you wouldnt have paid anything for because you wouldnt have gone if you didnt have the coupon.

Consider sharing a book with a neighbor or with family and guests that come to town frequently. This way you can still benefit from the book but at a reduced cost and everyone gets things that they will use.

Gearing Up For Ice Hockey

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

If you are ready to hit the ice and start playing ice hockey you need to know about the basic equipment that is essential to your game. The very basics include your stick, your skates, pucks and protective gear. There are different types of equipment for hockey which you can choose based on your preferences. Starting out, it is a good idea to buy used or at least inexpensive equipment until you discover your personal preferences.

When choosing a hockey stick, your height needs to be considered. If the stick is too long or too short, you will put unnecessary stress on your body when trying to use it and your performance in the game will be affected as well. If you visit a hockey equipment shop, the experts there can help you to determine what type of stick is best for you.

Buying skates for hockey is the easy part. When you purchase skates make sure that they fit well and have sufficient support for your ankles so you wont easily sustain injuries or rub blisters on your feet. Pucks arent really anything special although you may find that you favor one style or brand over another. They are relatively inexpensive, so trying different types of pucks shouldnt be a problem.

For protective gear you definitely need a well-fitted helmet with a mouth guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads and knee pads. A jockstrap and protective cup is also fundamental for your protection in the game of hockey. Protective girdles that cover the main part of your body are also a good idea as are hockey gloves. Neck protectors are also available for hockey players.

When you are dressed out in your hockey gear you should be protected, but sometimes protective clothing feels uncomfortable and some types may interfere with your mobility. If you feel like you cant move you might want to try different types of protective gear, but for your safety, dont give it up entirely. Unnecessary injuries can be prevented by using protective gear. Youll eventually find the right mix of equipment, clothing and gear that will make you feel both comfortable and safe on the ice. As you get more familiar with the game and what it entails, you have a better idea of what you like and dont like and youll be able to select higher quality gear that suits your needs and preferences for the game of hockey.

Music is being consumed in more ways than one and at a higher rate then every before. The MTV generation is use to not only hearing their music but seeing it as well. If they see a song that they like they can then buy that songs in multiple media forms from vinyl and CD to digital with DRM (digital rights management) and Mp3 without DRM. If they like the video and the song then they can go to Youtube and view it there until their hearts content. But the digitalization of music has done more. The world is your marketplace

If you were to open a convenience store, you would think long and hard about the store’s location. It would not make much sense to open it in a remote area with few customers. When you start a website, every person with online access is a potential customer. Have you ever wondered how many people actually use the Internet? Is it a few hundred thousand, a few million or more?

According to the Internet World Stats website, out of a total 6.5 billion people on the planet, about 1/6-th of them go online. That is a staggering 1 billion people! Obviously those who could potentially access your website is less than that since for example not everyone speaks the same language. If you are developing a website in English then you have access to at least 330 million people considering just North America. Of course there are many more English speaking countries so that number is much larger (link.)

In addition, consider that there is still the other 5 billion of the population that does not have online access. Every year more people get access to the Internet as the infrastructure is improving worldwide while the cost of access is decreasing. It might be that growth in North America is slowing down but it is increasing rapidly in less developed countries (link.)

I hope these numbers help you realize a couple of important points. First, if your website does not get much traffic at first don’t give up. You just haven’t reached all of your potential customers. This brings me to my second point. Marketing is important to success and I hope that you now understand why. In a later article, I will discuss how to properly market your website in order to drive traffic to it. For the time being just take some time to comprehend what a vast economy the Internet really is and the opportunities that exist therein.

Is It Possible To Earn A Fulltime Income Online?

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Most of us have seen numerous adverts promoting programs that will earn us yachts and mansions for only a few dollars investment. Too good to be true? Unfortunately yes. Most of the time you will waste time and money with these programs. So is there a way to make a full time income from only working online a few hours per day?

The short answer is yes but you need to put in a lot more time than a few hours per day to start with. Over the past 6 months I have worked up to 12 hours per day building an income to replace the one I lost when I left my previous job. It takes dedication and focus and slowly but surely your income will grow to the point that you can cut back your hours and get some quality time with your family.

The first thing you need to do is to sit down and have a long hard think about what you want from life. I would bet that most of you will at first think about the fast cars and mansions and the celebrity lifestyles that are depicted in many aspirational adverts. However think harder, these are things you would like to have not what you want from life. If after youve thought deeply you decide that you want to see your family grow up, you want to be able to make it to your childrens school concert and not have to work late on that important project. If you decide that you want to be able to take your wife for a romantic lunch before you collect the kids from school then you have the correct frame of mind to start making an income for yourself. If you dont have a family and you decide you want to be self reliant and not a wage slave then you are on the way. Be realistic and you wont be disappointed.

Now you know what you want and you know its realistic its time to get yourself a strategy. I like to think of my income building strategy in terms of building a house, before you put up the walls and roof, the part of the house you can see and admire you need to put in the foundations. The foundation of your income has to be a steady source of reliable income that you can build on. For this I built a number of content websites and monetized them by adding Adverts and Amazon feeds. I write articles and submit them to directories. I do everything I can to get the sites into the search engines and get traffic to them. Once the visitors started coming and I was getting a steady income then its time to branch out and work on the 4 walls of our strategy.

The second part of the strategy involves taking some profit from the site building and investing it in well researched programs that have a long history of paying out. You need to do your research and due diligence here and spread the risk among a number of programs if you have any doubts about a program walk away. Now you have your foundation and 4 walls in place its time to top it all off with the roof.

The Roof like in your house is the top level of our strategy, this is where you take everything you have learned building your foundations and walls and apply it to your own programs, by now you will know what works, you will have developed a network of contacts through programs and forums and you are ready to develop your own programs.

The great thing about this strategy is that if you have no spare cash you can start out with very little, in fact it is possible to start out with $0.00 and turn this into a full-time income by clever use of resources. If you dont believe that this is possible then have a look at the blog detailed in the resource box at the end of this article and watch start with $0.00 and prove there is such a thing as a free lunch.

Remember be focused and realistic and a full time income is within your grasp.

How to make a million dollars in one year.

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Dear Friend

In the previous lesson, we talked about the Power of Words.

Today we’re going to discuss how to make a million dollars in one yes?ar.

Does that sound like hype? It is.

You see hundreds of ads online promising to help you make thousands every month…Can they really deliver on that promise? Who knows. The point is there is something in the promise that is enticing, yes? The expectation that you can go from zero to a million dollar a year income is what the promises in those headlines are based on.

You and I know that, unless you win the lottery, the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Do you really want to make a million dollars a year?

You can you know.

For anyone who is making $800,000 each year in gross sales should be able to devise a plan to increase revenues 20% over the coming year. That’s’ all you have to do to make a million dollars a year.

The question is, how do you get to $800,000 a year in revenue? Make $700,000 in the previous year…and so on and so on.

You must have realistic expectations for sales. If you’re earning $50,000 a year now, aim towards $65,000 or even $75,000 the next year. If you’re earning $150,000 a year income, shoot for $200,000 to $225,000. Do you see what I’m driving at?

Wealth is not accumulated by hope or promises. Wealth is accumulated by increasing your revenues and decreasing or stabilizing your expenses.

We’ll talk about realistic strategies for increasing revenues for your business in the next several lessons.

But I will not make them public because I do not want to reveal what I’m going to reveal to everybody. If you want to continue reading the next lessons for free, just install my Online Wealth Chips & Tips Messenger.

Water is essential for life

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Water is essential for life. Humans have no capacity to store spare water, so we must quickly replace any that is lost.Water is the highway that moves nutrients and wastes between cells and organs. It carries food through digestive system, transports nutrients to cells and tissues, and carries waste out of our body in urine. Watery fluids act as shock absorbers, lubricators, and cleansing agents. For example, amniotic fluid cushions and protects the foetus, synovial fluid allows joints to move smoothly; tears lubricate and cleanse the eyes, and saliva moistens food and makes swallowing possible.

Water Excreation

We continuously lose water through various routes-exhaled air, perspiration, faeces, and urine. Water loss increases in an airplane. Fever, coughing, rapid breathing, and watery nasal secretions all increase water loss significantly.

Water Facts

* Our body consist of 55-75 % water.

* Water is the main food the body needs.

* The thirst reflex appears only when our body is dehydrated.

* We often mistake our thirst mechanism for hunger pangs.

* Children dehydrate more quickly than adults do.

* Mild dehydrate too slow down.

* Water dissolves more substances than any other liquid. Whenever it travels, water carries chemicals, minerals and nutrients with it.

* Tea, coffee and cola through made of water act as diruetic.

* Lack of water can induce daytime fatigue.

* Preliminary research says that eight to ten glasses of water a day could significantly ease back pain and joint pain for most of the sufferers.

* Drinking eight glasses of water can reduce risk factors for bladder, colon and breast cancer.

* When depressed reach for a glass or two of water. Depression and fatigue are often symptoms of dehydration.

* It is healthy to drink water with meals, as it aids the process of digestion.

* The best way of getting rid of water retention is to drink a lot of water.

* Water allows the body to metabolise fats more efficiently.

* For firm skin rely on good old water.

* Dehydration may induce contractions in pregnant women.

Go ahead and get your eight glasses of water every day.

Ultralight Sleeping Bags

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Why ultralight sleeping bags? Because ultralight backpacking is only made possible by cutting the weight of the “big three;” the backpack, shelter and sleeping bag. The days of five-pound summer bags are gone – at least for those of us who prefer to go light.

One Pound Ultralight Sleeping Bags

There are several one-pound ultralight sleeping bags on the market now. My own is 17 ounces. It actually weighs 19 ounces with the stuff sack, but stuff sacks aren’t always necessary. It can be stuffed directly into my pack or put in a half-ounce bread bag. It’s a down sleeping bag, and has kept me warm down to below freezing – warmer, in fact, than my four-pound bag used to keep me.

It appears fragile, and I’ve babied it over the years, but it may be tougher than I thought. I’ve used it from sea-level to 16,000 feet, in all types of weather, usually camping under a tarp, yet it still has its loft, and it appears almost new. The zipper goes only half-way down, to save weight, and it’s a mummy bag, but I’m 6’3″, 165 pounds, and I’ve always been comfortable in it.

Sleeping bags weighing around a pound are summer bags, rated down to 40 to 50 degrees fahrenheit. A quick check of the newest bags out there, though, shows that even one or two of the 0 degree bags are under three pounds now. These are down filled bags, of course, as down is still the lightest insulation for its weight.

Another big advantage of any down sleeping bag is it’s compressibility. Nothing packs smaller than down. However, a good synthetic bag is probably better than down if you are regularly getting it wet.

Several sythetic-fill sleeping bags now come close to down in their warmth-to-weight ratio. At least one summer bag, using Polarguard fill, weighs an even 16 ounces. That’s amazingly light for a synthetic bag.

Using Ultralight Sleeping Bags

Ultralight sleeping bags generally aren’t tough. The lighter the bag, the more fragile, but treat them gently, and they work fine. I’ve used mine for many years, in snow and rain, from Ecuador to California to Michigan, and it shows little wear. Baby these things, and they can last a long time.

Strengthen your business – know why those clients leave

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Copyright 2006 Kelly Robbins

We all have clients that love us. And I mean loooooooove us. These are our favorite clients that we like to think about all the time. Clients like these are the reason we are in business and the reason we love our business so much.

Unfortunately, not all our clients are like this. We also have clients that, after a period of time, leave us and don’t continue using our services. We know that in business this is not unusual. Client attrition is a normal part of a healthy business. Clients get better, move forward, change their minds.

However, as a business owner, it’s important you know WHY these people are leaving. I am going to call these clients “inactive clients”.

Why are they not coming back? Are they using your competitors? A company online? Did you alleviate a pain they were experiencing – basically you did your job – and they have no reason to see you anymore? Was there something that upset them or made them uncomfortable that they didn’t want to come back?

What? This isn’t fun? Don’t stick your head in the sand! You need to know this stuff.

While it’s important to acknowledge that all clients don’t stay forever, you need to put a system in place to find out why.

You may not have ever thought about this before – why you lose clients. Maybe you’ve thought about it and didnt know what to do. Maybe you are afraid to know, or don’t want to know. It’s a touchy subject. What if they just didn’t like you?

The only way to find out why a client has become inactive is to ask them. I understand this can be uncomfortable, but you need to find out. And the best way to do that is to ask. And this is something that needs to be done on a regular basis.

Systems need to be put in place so that when clients do become inactive (and you need to determine when that is) you make a phone call and find out what’s going on. A less preferable option is to have your assistant call.

Saying something as easy as “hey, we haven’t seen you in a while and weve missed you. Is there anything going on? I noticed we haven’t seen you in a few weeks. Is there something I can do to entice you to come visit us again?”

Be friendly and welcoming, but truly inquisitive as well. You may find there’s something going on in your business that needs your attention. You may also find that a client is experiencing some sort of hardship you otherwise wouldn’t have known about.

When you call to check on an inactive client you are doing several things.

You are showing them you care

You are telling them they matter and you noticed their absence

You are checking on the quality of your business. Both its processes and your employees.

You are being a caring friend and checking on the welfare of another. Do it. You’re business will run better because of it.

Outdoor Cooking Equipment – 20 Great Tips to Plan For the Coming Season

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Some people just love eating and some people just love cooking; but when it comes to cooking and eating outside most people say, hey, I love it.

So lets get to it.  Summer will soon be upon us and the outdoor season beckons. Its now the ideal time to think about those barbecues you’ll be having. Whether those meals will be on the patio or in the outback its now the time to ensure that you’ve got all your outdoor cooking equipment to hand and that you’ve got a good idea about how best to go about things.

There’s many that will argue, including me, that nothing tastes better than food cooked outdoors! Don’t you just love the aroma when cooking outdoors, the smells seems to just waft around as the food cooks and this makes everyone hungry. How is it that the food cooked outdoors always seems to smell so much nicer than when its cooked indoors?

Cooking outdoors comes in many guises. You and your family may prefer to use wood or charcoal because of those wonderful flavors that come from the charcoal and the smoke; or, you may prefer the cleanliness, control and  convenience of cooking with propane gas.  Whatever you prefer the market is now awash with great outdoor cooking equipment to make your cooking experience enjoyable and the results fabulous.

Now when it comes to choosing your outdoor cooking equipment a little thought is necessary as you can easily miss a trick or two and fall short when the time comes to perform!  So, here are 20 great tips to help you make the right decisions when planning this season’s outdoor cooking:

  1. Firstly you must decide will it be gas or charcoal; don’t fudge this one as its important; if you want ease and convenience go for gas grills; if you don’t mind a little extra trouble & time and your family loves the flavors that are picked up from the smoke then go for charcoal;
  2. If you go for charcoal always start the fire naturally, never use lighter fuels; let me say that again, never use lighter fuels! Why? Because no matter how long it is before you bring your food to the grill you’ll pick up those chemical smells…Yuk!;
  3. Ask yourself, are you making an investment for the future of just for the coming summer season; because thats how long cheap ‘stuff’ is going to last!  I recommend making an investment in the future, therefore go for quality; as you know in your heart, you pay for what you get! Don’t go cheap if you can afford better; for example: stainless steel looks better and lasts longer than aluminum and cleans up much better and easier; although it has to be said heat distributes more evenly and quickly with aluminum so the arguments are not always so clear cut; portable pick up and go grills are going to be great for tailgating and impromtu stops but they’ll be a disappointment on the patio when cooking for a group of  friends & family;
  4. There are many styles & sizes of outdoor grills, picking the right one to meet your needs and of course your budget is important, but remember that quality counts; you don’t want to be regretting your purchase half way through the summer! Go for the best you can.
  5. Think about where you’re going to be doing your cooking and buy your kit appropriately. Ask yourself, will we be cooking on the patio, or will you be tailgating or then again will we be going outback; this makes a big difference to your choice of kit; indeed you may decide that you need quite separate cooking equipment for the patio as opposed to when you’re getting out and about. Gas grills are heavier and bulkier than charcoal, on the patio that’s a bonus in the outback its a chore; gas grills cook quicker than the charcoal grills; some people hate gas grills by comparison because they love the flavors that wood bestows; gas grills are more expensive than charcoal ones etc. etc.
  6. Decide what style of cooking best suits you because the kit you’ll need will change with your preferred style of cooking. If you’re into Jambalaya cooking then you should buy Jambalaya pots, if your going to be frying whole turkeys then a turkey fryer kit will be ideal; do you prefer cast iron stove ware for cooking, Dutch ovens are great for simple outdoor cooking or do you prefer open grills;? The questions go on and on and only you know what the family are going to prefer. Its not as hard to think things through as you might think,  I suggest that you go to a store that sells the full range of equipment and ask yourself what’s going to work best for us?
  7. When cooking with propane check the level of gas in the cylinder and whenever possible have a second one in reserve. There’s nothing worse with friends and family hovering, the meal is half ready and the gas goes out!!! If you’ve a replacement, no problem, but if  you’ve not, just how bad can things get?
  8. Don’t forget basic safety advice when cooking outdoors; remember salmonella is just as happy and active outdoors as it is inside. So what to do? Keep those fresh meat  plates and your cooking utensils away from any plates and cooking utensils that you’ll be using for eating off. Yes i know its obvious but this is important and its easily forgotten especially by the kids if they take a hand;
  9. Will you betaking your cooking kit out in the outback or to the beach where there are safety regulations preventing the use of certain cooking methods; how annoying is it to arrive and then find your kit isn’t appropriate. And don’t think you’ll be okay they’ll never know. have you seen the recent damage that’s been caused by fires that get out of control; think safety first. Its important to remember that usually you find restrictions at picnic areas and on beaches & camping zones;
  10. When you find a great recipe that cooks well outside share it with family; especially the simple tips that made it work out so well. Many people are apprehensive about cooking out doors and even when they do they make simple errors that you could help them avoid making. Simple tips need passing on;
  11. Never pierce food on a BBQ or the juices will run out and it will dry out very quickly: most people who say they don’t like BBQs do so because they hate dried out tasteless food that so often arises from a smoldering BBQ
  12. Never cook meat too long as again it dries out
  13. Always make sure that meat is fully defrosted before starting cooking on your grill, not only is this dangerous to your health but the food will burn on the outside before you’ve cooked it in the inside!
  14. Try to cook slower rather than faster when cooking outdoors, except with you steaks of course, they need searing and a minimum of time is preferred for however well you like them cooked; [yes I know this goes against what conventional wisdom says and your desire to tuck ij but the rewards of slower cooked foods great exceed the extra time it takes; believe me
  15. Always let your meat rest after cooking without cutting it up. This allows the juices to settle and the full flavor to come out, it also means all the juices don’t run away across the serving plate; 7-10 minutes is all you need to wait and whilst the time is short the difference in flavor can be huge; try it.
  16. Try marinating your meats before barbecuing, and remember, the longer the better, overnight if you can. If you do the flavors of your cooking will be greatly enhanced and your friends will marvel;
  17. If you use a grill with a lid, keep it closed as much as possible. This improves the consistency of cooking due to the retention of the heat which otherwise is lost each time you open the grill; stop worrying and go and have a chat;
  18. Try some of the many free recipes you’ll find online; there are so many and some are really good. Don’t get hooked on complication though; keeping things simple and experiment are the keys. But equally don’t get into the ideas of those that say quick and easy is best go for things that cook quickly! NO. Marinades are simple and add tremendous flavor, cook slower than quickly and you’ll retain more flavors;
  19. Try out Dutch cooking; its easy and straightforward and the flavors are great; look for Dutch cooking recipes on the web;
  20. Keep your outdoor cooking fun; share the joy of the cooking with friends & family. Try to get the kids involved; if you do you’ll develop in them a lifetime passion for cooking, which is often hard to do in the kitchen. Better still you’ll have a laugh and if you involve your friends you’ll start appreciate them in totally different ways than before; its like a new way of bonding. You’ll start to see them in a totally different light…… interesting! … Oh, just one quick point, but take care the opposite can work out too.

Best Beds and Mattresses for Back Pain

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Beds and mattresses play a very important role in the keeping your back in good shape. After a day full of twists and turns, and bending and straightening, your back requires good rest. Beds and mattresses that do not support the back properly can add to the back strain, besides, affecting the quality of sleep.

You can find a large variety of beds and mattresses on the market. Selecting the right kind is a matter of choice, but for patients of back pain, it is necessary that they follow the guidelines given below.

Selecting the Best Beds and Mattresses

It is important for people suffering from back pain to opt for beds and mattresses that support their back and not put it under additional stress or strain. Not much research has been done on the type of beds and mattresses required for patients with back pain. However, it is seen that adjustable beds suit people with back pain better. The angle of inclination can be adjusted to a position where the patient feels most comfortable. Patients suffering from degenerative spondylolisthesis do benefit from an inclined bed with support under the knees. They can tuck in enough pillows or cushions under the knees and adjust the angle of inclination to provide comfort to the painful back. The mattress should be neither too hard nor soft. A firm mattress will provide the support needed for a bad back.

Patients with an osteoarthritic spine stand to benefit from adjustable beds and mattress that are supportive. It is important for such patients to wake up with a relaxed back, since people suffering from osteoarthritic spine normally get up from bed with a very stiff spine.

Normal beds and mattresses for patients with spinal stenosis tend to deteriorate their condition further. Such people are more comfortable bending forward than keeping their back upright. As such, flat beds and mattresses are not suitable for their condition. An adjustable bed can be inclined at an angle that stimulates a forward bending position. A firm mattress will support the spinal stenosis back well.

What is Toenail Fungus?

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Onychomycosis is a medical term for a common nail disorder, popularly referred to as toenail fungus. This ailment is caused due to various fungi types and leads to considerable nail damage. The fungus develops in dark and damp surroundings so people wearing tight and closed shoes or women applying multiple nail polish coats are more prone to toenail fungus. That is because the fungus, once formed, thrives by gnawing away at the toenail protein called keratin.

Toenail fungus is a syndrome that happens in at least 2 % to 18% of the worlds population and in about 3% to 5% of Americans. The good news is that it is less likely to affect children under 18, but the older one grows, the more vulnerable they become to this problem. Its surprising how more than 2.5 million Americans suffering from this malady, despite their podiatrists advice, think it insignificant to get treated. Probably it is not yet considered a dreadful problem but the fact is that the fungus is contagious and can spread from one foot to the other. The infection is more evident in public areas like gym locker rooms or inside showers, in people like athletes and military staff or those suffering from health disabilities like HIV etc.

The Symptoms:

The most visible symptoms of an infected toenail are its yellowish or brown colour and its unnatural thickness. A malodorous pile of dirt settles within and as the situation worsens, the nail becomes brittle and dry and ultimately peels off. Thus, as soon as either of these syndromes make themselves obvious, its crucial to get a diagnosis and an opinion from a specialist. The doctor will consider various factors like your occupation, the style of your shoes, foot hygiene habits, chronic illnesses etc. to assure himself that it is toenail fungus and not psoriasis of the nail. Samples of your nail will be scrutinized via a lab test for the fungi.

Prevention:

The fungus usually does not heal by itself, but stays on for a very long time till the nail falls off. But in most cases even the newly growing nail is infected as well. The best way to avoid the mess is to take appropriate preventive measures like:

oWearing open and comfortable shoes
oClean your feet daily and apply a good powder to avoid friction
oEnsure that your socks and stockings are hygienic
oAllow the body some breathing space by using suitable and not too tight hosiery
oAvoid walking barefoot in public showers and gym locker rooms
oOpt for a regular pedicure and get the toenails trimmed
oEnsure that the tools used for a pedicure are disinfected

Nail Fungus Treatment:

The problem is treated by first eradicating the infected part of the nail. The doctor can either clip it off or dissipate it with a urea and bifonazole paste. In case of a slight infection, one can use a medicated nail varnish consisting of Loceryl (containing amorolfine) or Loprox (containing ciclopirox) that should be used twice weekly. For a more intense contamination, the doctor advises an oral antifungal medicine like Sporanox (containing itraconazole) which can be taken every day for about 3 months. The caveat here is that itraconazole might lead to certain side effects. In the most hopeless of cases, it might become necessary to surgically remove the nail. So, once the treatment has been availed of and even if the fungus has been eradicated, do not expect the nail to recuperate entirely in terms of the aesthetic sense. Also there are chances of a relapse in about 10% to 20% cases.

Used Books Save You Money

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

With the increased cost of printing and publishing, buying new books is becoming a very costly affair. However, students and researchers need not worry as they can always buy used books from any local bookstore.

Books used by students, scholars or professors do not always end up at the state library and instead end up at the local resellers. These stores work as a bridge between those who want to dispose off their old books and those who are looking to buy. Books often tend to be out of publication or are very difficult to buy owing to their scarcity. The best solution to the situation is to buy used books.

It is surprising to see the used books collection that many of these resellers have. From used text books to old magazines and journals, you are sure to get almost anything that you have been searching for. Used college books are one of the most common items that people look for. From astronomy to animal husbandry, history of Everest climbs to that of the ocean’s deepest trenches – a huge collection of used books are available at the resellers. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to get the desired college book at the first instance itself. To buy that coveted book you may have to visit a few resellers and rummage through the used books stock before you are finally able to find it.

The biggest advantage of used books is their low prices. But when you buy used books the condition of the book is the foremost thing to consider. It is advisable to check the books, especially to see that the books contain all the pages including the index. Often resellers tend to put an attractive cover to hide the book’s damages. You should also be aware of the prevalent market price of the book to ensure that the reseller is not making considerable profits by charging higher than the normal.

Not only can you buy used books but you will also be able to sell used books or exchange used books at the reseller’s. Barter of used books is a good idea, as you can always pick up something useful in exchange of books not needed anymore.

So the next time you want to add a missing edition to your National Geographic collection or buy a part of the Britannica Encyclopedia series, you know where to look.

Tailgate Parties

Monday, November 28th, 2011

Its hard to picture a football game, baseball game or any sporting event without a tailgate party in the parking lot. Tailgate parties can be great for any occasion, and it doesnt have to be reserved for sports events. Amusement parks, beaches, county fairs are just a few examples of possible events for great tailgate parties. Any event that doesnt normally provide great food is excellent for tailgate parties.

Although tailgate parties are normally fairly short and infrequent, tailgate parties are easy to plan and organize. Potlucks are the preferred choice for tailgaters. You can ask people to bring their favorite dishes. Make sure everyone understand the type of food they are responsible for, so you dont end up with a 6 servings of desserts. Not that some of the guests would have anything against a dessert only party.

It is true that tailgate parties are informal events; it doesnt mean you have to compromise on the quality of the food you serve. Because you dont have to worry about spending money on decoration and such, you can afford to spend a bit more money on the food. The larger budget allocated for food allows for better quality food and drinks. These better quality products will turn your tailgate party into a memorable event.

Separate raw meat and poultry from cooked foods to avoid cross-contamination. Keep in mind that raw meat and poultry need to be cooked thoroughly. Store leftovers in a cooler within 2 hours of taking food off of the grill. When the temperature is above 90 F outside, store food in a cooler within 1 hour.

Tailgate parties require no or minimal preparation. Decoration is going to get as fancy as the cars are on the lot. To make your party more relaxing, try to park your car in an area with the least amount of traffic on the lot. The less traffic in the area the less exhaust fumes you have to breathe in. Also, less traffic means less noise and youll be able to hear each other better and relax more.

For some people tailgate parties are too close to oil spots and exhaust fumes, so if you are one of them, tailgate parties may not be the best fit for you.

Interesting facts: The majority of tailgaters are men, and 60 percent are between the ages of 25 and 44. Almost half of all tailgaters tailgate 6-10 times per season.

An Introduction To Fantasy Football

Monday, November 28th, 2011

Okay, lets get one thing straight right off the bat, we are talking about American football here, you know the sport with the funny shaped ball! Anyway, lets not waste time on semantics I have stuff to do.

The way fantasy football works is like this, every participant or owner as we are called in the Fantasy Sports World, drafts or buys through an auction a team of players. For the purposes of this introduction we are going to assume the fantasy football league is NFL, but it could also be based on college players. The way the actual completion plays out depends upon the individual fantasy football league you happen to belong to. In some fantasy football leagues the winner is determined by total points at the end of a season, while others actually play against each other weekly with the team having the best record at the end of the fantasy season being declared winner of that fantasy football league.

The internet has been responsible for taking fantasy football from a hobby played out in sports bars and individual homes to a multi-billion dollar industry now according to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. According to the FSTA, nearly twenty million players participate in fantasy sports and the industry has a growth rate of around ten percent. Fantasy Football is the most popular of all the fantasy sports available and continues to grow even faster with the explosion of websites and software to help with the game as well as the proliferation of fantasy football magazines available today.

Most fantasy football leagues will be made up of around ten or twelve individual teams which will have their own mock drafts before the season starts. Because you are drafting real players and their performance really matters it pays to stay in touch with what is going on with them during the off season and pre-season. For example if you draft a Ricky Williams and he decides to go off and smoke dope, too bad, you are screwed out of a running back! In some fantasy football leagues each owner must draft a new team every year, while in others you may be allowed to keep a handful of players which will not be entered in the draft. Some leagues have even gone as far as to create so-called dynasty leagues where an owner may maintain his team from the previous season and only draft incoming rookies. This is very similar to how a real football league works.

Players that are not drafted are designated as free agents and may be chosen during the season by trading players that an owner may currently have and making them free agents. The rules that govern this practice vary from league to league.
